Dangerous Deceiver
First published 1996 · 288 pages
A classic battle of wits where stubborn assumptions melt into reluctant, undeniable passion across two continents.
What it feels like
Reading this vintage romance feels like stepping into a delightfully dramatic time capsule of 90s glamour and sharp-tongued banter. The narrative moves at a brisk, engaging clip, driven almost entirely by the crackling, prickly tension between two fiercely stubborn people who refuse to admit their mutual attraction. There is a delicious frustration in watching them circle each other, armed with misconceptions and defensive wit, first in sun-drenched Sydney and later against the chic backdrop of London. The prose is dialogue-heavy and emotionally emphatic, perfectly capturing the push-and-pull dynamics of classic category romance. It will thoroughly delight readers who love the satisfying emotional payoff of an enemies-to-lovers dynamic where pride finally gives way to passionate vulnerability.
