A sea-swept, atmospheric journey where ancient coastal folklore awakens to test the courage of children against a creeping, mythic dark.

What it feels like

Reading this book feels like standing on a wind-battered Cornish cliff, tasting salt in the air while ancient, unseen forces gather just beneath the waves. The narrative unfolds at a steady, deliberate pace, grounding you in the cozy, damp reality of a coastal village before slowly pulling back the veil to reveal a world steeped in mythic dread and Arthurian grandeur. The prose is evocative and reverent, treating both the wild sea and the old magic with equal respect. It is a deeply atmospheric experience that balances the eerie, creeping tension of the Dark with the earnest bravery of its young protagonists. This will delight readers who crave folklore-heavy fantasy where compassion is just as powerful as ancient magic.

About the book

Simon, Jane, and Barney, enlisted by their mysterious great-uncle, arrive in a small coastal town to recover a priceless golden grail stolen by the forces of evil -- Dark. They are not at first aware of the strange powers of another boy brought to help, Will Stanton -- nor of the sinister significance of the Greenwitch, an image of leaves and branches that for centuries has been cast into the sea for good luck in fishing and harvest. Their search for the grail sets into motion a series of disturbing, sometimes dangerous events that, at their climax, bring forth a gift that, for a time at least, will keep the Dark from rising.

Third in The Dark is Rising series.
