Lady Ice

First published 1987 · 250 pages

A classic 1980s battle of wills where corporate ambition collides with undeniable, simmering passion.

What it feels like

Stepping into this vintage romance feels like entering a high-stakes 1980s boardroom where the real negotiation is entirely emotional. The narrative moves at a brisk, determined clip, driven by the crackling tension between a fiercely guarded heroine and a hero intent on dismantling her walls. It is a story steeped in the glamorous, shoulder-padded atmosphere of corporate power struggles, yet its true focus remains intimately tethered to the bedroom. The prose is emotionally heightened and unabashedly passionate, capturing the dizzying descent from frosty self-preservation into fiery surrender. Readers who delight in classic marriage-of-convenience tropes, 'ice queen' dynamics, and the slightly melodramatic, deeply earnest tone of old-school category romance will find themselves thoroughly swept away by this battle of wills.

About the book

It was a marriage of convenience, but for cool businesswoman Patricia Lycaster there was nothing convenient about it. She didn't particularly like or trust men, espeically devilishly ones like consultant Peter Vanzant, but to save the family firm she had become his wife - a wife, she promised herself, in name only.

But her dark-eyed husband wanted Patricia in the bedroom as well as the boardroom. And the more she resisted, the more determined he was to fan the flame of desire that blazed between them, to melt her frosty reserve, until she could deny her heart - and him - no longer...
