Star Wars - Rebel Rising

416 pages

A gritty, morally complex coming-of-age story about the heavy toll of survival in a galaxy at war.

What it feels like

Reading this book feels like walking a tightrope over a moral abyss. It is a gritty, fast-paced exploration of what happens when survival demands you compromise your soul. The atmosphere is tense and shadowed, steeped in the claustrophobia of a war where the lines between hero and villain blur into a desperate gray. The prose is direct and visceral, anchoring the reader firmly in the protagonist's psychological turmoil as she is molded into a weapon by those she trusts most. It is a heavy, emotionally taxing journey that strips away the glossy heroism of space operas to reveal the raw, bleeding cost of rebellion. Fans of morally complex YA and stories of hardened survivors will devour this intense, character-driven tragedy.

About the book

When Jyn Erso is eight years old, her mother is murdered and her father taken from her to serve the Empire. But despite the loss of her parents, she is not completely alone. Saw Gerrera, a man willing to go to any extremes necessary to resist Imperial tyranny, takes her in as his own daughter and gives her not only a home but all the abilities and resources she needs to become a rebel.[5]

Jyn dedicates herself to the cause—and the man. But fighting alongside Saw and his people brings with it danger and the question of just how far Jyn is willing to go as one of Saw's soldiers. When she faces an unthinkable betrayal that shatters her world, Jyn will have to pull the pieces of herself back together and figure out what she truly believes in...and whom she can really trust.
