Vampire state of mind

288 pages

A highly caffeinated, banter-filled paranormal romance where saving the world means teaming up with the arrogant vampire you're trying not to fall for.

What it feels like

Reading this book feels like stepping into a wry, fast-paced urban fantasy where supernatural bureaucracy meets world-ending stakes. The narrative moves at a brisk, highly caffeinated clip, balancing the pragmatic exhaustion of managing paranormal creatures with the sudden, adrenaline-fueled rush of a demonic threat. The mood is steeped in playful romantic tension, driven by snappy banter and the friction of reluctant alliances. The prose is sharp and humorous, leaning into the absurdity of the situation while keeping the emotional stakes grounded in genuine vulnerability. It is a perfect fit for readers who delight in exasperated heroines armed with pointy weapons, and paranormal romances that do not take themselves too seriously until the fate of the world—and the heart—is on the line.

About the book

Jessica Grant knows vampires only too well. She runs the York Council tracker programme making sure that Otherworlders are all where they should be, keeps the filing in order and drinks far too much coffee. To Jess, vampires are annoying and arrogant and far too sexy for their own good, particularly her ex-colleague Sil, who's now in charge of Otherworld York. But when a demon turns up and threatens not just Jess but the whole world order, she and Sil are forced to work together, and when Jess turns out to be the key to saving the world it puts a very different slant on their relationship. The stakes are high. They are also very, very pointy and Jess isn't afraid to use them, even on the vampire that she's rather afraid she's falling in love with.
