What Feasts at Night
176 pages
A chilling, damp descent into gothic dread where the promise of rest is swallowed by uncanny folklore and troubled dreams.
What it feels like
This atmospheric gothic novella wraps the reader in a cold, damp embrace, trading the promise of a peaceful sanctuary for creeping, breath-stealing dread. The narrative moves at a steady, suspenseful pace, anchoring its eerie folklore in the weary pragmatism of a protagonist who is already exhausted from past horrors. As uncanny silences and troubled dreams begin to blur the line between local superstition and waking reality, the mood grows increasingly claustrophobic and chill-inducing. The prose is grounded yet deeply evocative, perfectly capturing the unsettling texture of a haunted hunting lodge deep in a dark forest. It is a perfect read for those who crave a tightly woven, dread-soaked tale where lingering trauma meets the terrifying unknown of old legends.

About the book
After their terrifying ordeal at the Usher manor, Alex Easton feels as if they just survived another war. All they crave is rest, routine, and sunshine, but instead, as a favor to Angus and Miss Potter, they find themself heading to their family hunting lodge, deep in the cold, damp forests of their home country, Gallacia.
In theory, one can find relaxation in even the coldest and dampest of Gallacian autumns, but when Easton arrives, they find the caretaker dead, the lodge in disarray, and the grounds troubled by a strange, uncanny silence. The villagers whisper that a breath-stealing monster from folklore has taken up residence in Easton’s home. Easton knows better than to put too much stock in local superstitions, but they can tell that something is not quite right in their home... or in their dreams.
